Barbara Gurnee CDA, R.D.A., BS, FADAA

Barb graduated with an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting and a Bachelor Degree in Allied Health Education from Ferris State University. She is currectly employed with Dr. Terra Mallais in Essexville. Barb has held most positions at the local level for Mid-MI Dental Assisting Society, recently elected Technology Officer, and is an active volunteer for numerous activities in her community. The Mission of Mercy in June 2013 is high on her list of volunteer opportunities and she looks forward to co-chairing dental assistant volunteers for the 2016 MOM.

Barb and her husband, Mark, are the very proud parents of Jessica, twins, Benjamin and his wife, Ann Marie, and Rachael and her husband, Brad, and 22 year old twins, Tyler and Matthew. Grandchildren include Russell, Vincent,Amelia and the newest addition to her family Margaret Ann, born December, 2015!. She looks forward to trips to Louisville and Grand Rapids for quality time with with family! Hobbies include sports, crafts, sewing, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends.

The Ruth M. Edwards Service Award was awarded to her at the 2006 Annual Session. Barb's vision for Dental Assistants is to convince as many dental assistants as possible to join and maintain membership in the ADAA in an effort to present a united organization that offers greater opportunities for our profession. She also is eager to see three levels of dental assistants recognized in the state of Michigan. She challenges all Michigan Dental Assistants to earn their Fellowship Award! One of her goals is to complete her Mastership!
