Jennifer Kindel 2014

Officer Spotlight

Jennifer Kindel R.D.A., BA

2016-17 Publicity Chairperson

While Jennifer is finishing her 5th year at the state level, she has been very active with Mid-MI DAS. Jennifer was President, Treasurer, Technology Chair and most recently Vice President. She was a delegate to Annual Session the past 5 years. She has been a member of ADAA since 2006 and was Legislative Chair for MDAA and most recently created Public Service Announcements describing R.D.A.s! She is currently employed with Dr. Kevin Bone in Saginaw, MI, and Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools out of Washington D.C..

She attended Puget Sound Institute of Technology, Bellevue, Washington in a six month excelerated program and graduated with a 4.0 GPA, went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a teaching Credential from the state of Washington. Jennifer was looking for something to help pay her way through "real" college so that she could get her teaching degree and selected dental assisting. She accomplished both! Sadly there are not many full-time music teacher positions so she continued doing what she loved – dental assisting. "I still love my music and still love to teach". After moving to Michigan, she took the R.D.A. exam and became a Registered Dental Assistant. Jennifer was appointed to the MI Board of Dentistry in 2017.

Jennifer's family consists of her husband, Phil, son Jared, and daughter Kimani – Both children have graduated from college and Kimani is enjoying a nuclear propulsion career in the US Navy and Jared is pursuing a career in applied mathematics, physics and computer science. She is very close to her children because she was a single parent for many years and she is very proud of them and their accomplishments! Her hobbies include music, art, reading, outdoor activities, and watching good action movies! Jennifer and her husband recently opened the Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast; ADAA members get a 30% discount!

Jennifer envisions the Registered Dental Assistant and the dental assistant as a crucial part of the dental team with their own skills/responsibilities in the dental office. She sees the R.D.A. playing an important part in treating the patients' restorative needs and the dental assistant providing basic supportive procedures.
